Alumni Features

Brenda Katwesigye Baganzi, MBA’22

“I learned that it takes very strong relationships to sustain a career.”
  • Based in: Toronto
  • Current role: Engagement Lead (Managing Consultant), Strategy and Transformation, Mastercard
  • Previous education: Honours Bachelor of Science (Telecommunication Engineering), Makerere University; Business and Entrepreneurship, Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Advice for future MBAs: Be very clear about the main things you want to achieve. Your goals might change as you get more information—and that is OK—but if you stay focused on what you want to achieve and pour your efforts into getting there, you won’t have any regrets.

Caroline Pollock, MBA’19

“The program opened my eyes to what’s out there.”
  • Based in: Ottawa
  • Current role: Program Leader, Major Capital Infrastructure Program, Defence Construction Canada
  • Previous education: Bachelor of Engineering (Industrial Engineering), Dalhousie University; Organizational Behaviour Studies, Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University
  • Advice for future MBAs: Carve out time to socialize and bond—with your teammates, with the greater group of students, and with the staff. Yes, you have to put in time for homework and assignments and presentations, but I’d argue the social element is almost as important. It really does allow you to get the most out of the experience.

Graham Coe, MBA’18

“It rounded out my experience and my acumen in a much more holistic way.”
  • Based in: Kingston, ON
  • Current role: Managing Partner, Cityflats
  • Previous education: Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, Western University
  • Advice for future MBAs: It’s not just about employment or salary. I know those are things people look for when they are thinking about applying, but the program creates so many other opportunities—to really learn on campus, to network, to tap into the alumni network, to give back to current students. The whole experience delivers so much more than short-term career advancement.

  • Based in: Seattle
  • Current role: Senior Principal Product Manager, Amazon
  • Previous education: Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), Carleton University
  • Advice for future MBAs: Come in with an open mind and don’t be afraid to feel out of your depth—that’s where real growth happens. The MBA isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about learning how to ask better questions.
