Scholarships

There are a number of significant scholarship opportunities awarded to Smith Master of International Business students each year. These opportunities enable us to enroll the top business students from around the world, enhancing our class and strengthening our outstanding alumni network after graduation.

Smith Internal Scholarships

Entrance Scholarships

Entrance scholarships are awarded to candidates – both domestic and international - based on merit.

  • academic excellence throughout a candidate’s academic career
  • strong references
  • excellent performance during the admissions interview
  • exceptional GMAT/GRE or English-proficiency test results (if applicable)

All candidates are automatically considered for an entrance scholarship. If you are selected to receive an entrance scholarship, we will communicate this to you at the time of your acceptance.

Scholarships for Black Students

$10,000 scholarship awarded annually to 1 student entering the MIB program. Given to an equity-deserving Canadian candidate who self-identifies as Black and demonstrates academic excellence, community involvement, and proven leadership experience. To be eligible, candidates must have either Canadian citizenship or Canadian Permanent Residency status. This scholarship is merit-based and will be awarded on the basis of an applicant’s essay submission, as well as the overall strength of their application profile. Selection will be made by a Smith EDII Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship for Indigenous Student

A $10,000 scholarship is available annually to be awarded to a full time Indigenous student entering the MIB program. Recipients are selected based on demonstrated academic excellence, community involvement, and proven leadership experience. Selection decisions are made by the Smith EDII Scholarship Committee, based on all documentation submitted as part of the original program application (including cover letter, resume, transcripts, and references, etc.), as well as a supplemental essay provided by the candidate. As a condition of receiving the award, successful candidates must provide verification of Indigenous status in one of the forms specified by the Queen’s University Indigenous Students Admission Pathway.

Export Development Canada (EDC) Scholarships

Export Development Canada

EDC offers $5,000 scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary education in Canada, including 20 awards for International Business students. Visit EDC for full details.
