Career Education Curriculum

Career Management Foundations

The Smith School of Business Career Education curriculum is comprehensive and adaptable. Our various delivery methods offer students the opportunity to make intentional choices aligned to their unique learning needs and career goals.

At the core of this programming is our Career Management Foundations program (CMF), which is delivered as an asynchronous, self-directed career education course, available 24/7 on our CAC portal. The content is provided via 8 modules and students can consume as much, or as little detail as they wish. Learning activities include: videos, interactive content, worksheets and comprehension checks.

To support the self-directed learning in each CMF module, we also offer Master Classes. Our Master Classes are engaging and interactive synchronous classes that focus on a specific CMF topic. We dive deeper into the topic to integrate the learning and support practical application in each students career journey. These classes are conversation-based and create a co-learning environment by offering the opportunity to engage with classmates and CAC team members.

The final level of our career management curriculum includes Tutorials. Our Tutorials are “hands- on” sessions that are focused on our specific tools and resources to ensure students understand how to leverage them fully to support individual career needs.

Encompassing all of our career education curriculum is our 1:1 coaching model, that allows students to meet with our team of certified Career Coaches who will help to support each student achieving their career goals throughout their unique career journey.

By engaging in our CMF modules, attending and participating in our master classes, and working 1:1 with our Coaches, students have the opportunity to earn our Career Management Foundations digital badge. This badge can serve as a differentiator when pursuing career opportunities, as it can be shared across social media such as LinkedIn. We want our students to stand out as the best talent – because that’s what they are.
