Application Process

All applications for the Master of Finance – Beijing International section are made online through Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. For the Executive Chinese-language section, please apply through the Renmin University website.

Step One

Preliminary Assessment

Smith’s Application Advisors will work with you through every step of the application process. Begin your preliminary assessment by completing the online application form and attaching a scanned copy of your resume and transcripts (if available).

An Application Advisor will contact you (normally within 2-3 business days) and provide feedback on your eligibility for the program. To speak with an Application Advisor, call toll-free 1-855-253-9697.

Step Two

Submit Application Files

You will need to complete a full application package, which should include:

  • Official transcripts of your previous undergraduate and/or graduate-level studies
  • TOEFL (minimum 100 IBT) and/or IELTS (minimum 7) test documents, if your first language is not English and you have not lived in Canada for a minimum of three years, or if you did not complete your undergraduate program in English.
  • Two references
  • Resume
  • Successful completion of GMAT, GRE or CFA Level 1*. This requirement may be waived if the candidate has: a bachelor’s degree in business or economics from an accredited university with an average of A or better and/or robust work experience in finance.

*Upon preliminary assessment some candidates may be required to submit both GMAT/GRE and CFA Level 1.

Step Three

Interview

Selected applicants will be contacted for an online interview with the admissions team. The interview will be used to assess your overall English language ability and to learn more about you and your background so that we can ensure you are a good fit for the program.

The interview will also provide you with an opportunity to meet with Smith School of Business staff and ask any remaining questions you may have. The interview is not an academic test and will not measure your finance knowledge.
