Program Structure

Above all else, Smith's Master of Management Innovation & Entrepreneurship launches your career in the innovation or start up ecosystem. Throughout the duration of the program, you will work on the development, design and activation of your innovative ideas.

Additionally, you will develop your business acumen through three boot camp style sessions at Smith and virtually throughout the year. As a result, the program provides maximum flexibility for students to personalize their experience.

The in-person Innovation Suite launch session features cross-program learning and networking with students in other Smith Innovation Suite programs. MMIE students will connect with Master of Digital Product Management students.

Innovation Project Course

The major year-long project course is an opportunity to explore your ideas, create opportunities for experiential learning, and launch a project that moves you forward exponentially in achieving your personal goals.

The experiential learning is fully self-driven and supported by a peer advisor group and MMIE Advisor/Coach. The role of the group is to help each other achieve your goals while keeping each other accountable, motivated and focused on the steps forward as you learn and pivot as needed

All students no matter what opportunities you pursue, receive the same content, learning and access to all the same resources and services.

Intensive Boot Camp-Style Sessions

The program includes three highly intensive on-campus sessions in which you will develop your business acumen and learn the tools and techniques you need to succeed. Students immersed on campus are part of the pan-university incubator/accelerator and all students, whether remote or not, can visit and spend as much time as needed accessing the incubator, engineering labs, and SparQ Maker space anytime throughout the year.

Sean Huang

“I chose Smith’s MMIE program because I felt it had a lot to offer in terms of having great resources for aspiring and even experienced startup founders. I also enjoyed the program's flexibility since, being a full-time founder, my schedule can be pretty demanding, and I was glad MMIE offered a great program that would fit into my day-to-day seamlessly.”
