MBAs are top 100 in the world
Three MBA programs were recognized for excellence in the annual Financial Times rankings. That included the Full-time MBA, which was No. 1 in Canada for overall satisfaction with the program.
In February 2022, the school’s Full-time MBA made the top 100 in the FT’s annual ranking of global MBA programs.
For the second consecutive year, the Full-time MBA was No. 1 in Canada for overall satisfaction with the program, as rated by alumni three years post-graduation. Smith was also the top-ranked Canadian school for career services, which includes career coaching, personal development and other support for students to build their profile and network.
“A great MBA experience goes beyond the classroom—to networking, personal growth and an exceptional support system,” said Elspeth Murray, associate dean, MBA and master’s programs. “With the best career outcomes in Canada, clearly we are succeeding in helping students achieve their goals.”
Smith’s MBA class of 2021 saw 98 per cent of students with an accepted job offer within three months of graduation. Alumni secured jobs with leading organizations in financial services, consulting, consumer goods and technology.
The Financial Times Global MBA ranking is based on four categories of criteria: career progress; diversity; research; and environmental, social and governance (ESG). Data is collected from a survey of schools and a survey of alumni three years after graduation.
Smith’s two EMBA programs were also ranked top 100 in the world by the Financial Times.
The National Executive MBA and Executive MBA Americas secured spots in the FT 2021 ranking of global Executive MBA programs, released in the fall of 2021.
The Smith National Executive MBA moved up eight spots to No. 73 overall. The program’s career progress ranking rose an impressive 30 spots to No. 34, up from No. 64 in 2020. This metric is based on changes to the level of seniority and size of the company where alumni currently work.
The Executive MBA Americas program, a partnership between Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and Smith, was ranked No. 57 overall. The program ranked in the top 20 for career progress, coming in at No. 19.
“A key component of the Smith Executive MBA experience is our approach to helping students become transformative leaders,” said Professor Murray. “As part of our exceptional support, students receive individual, executive coaching to build personal capacity skills and develop their areas of strength.”
