Admission Process

Your Application Advisor will work with you to ensure that your application is not only complete, but presents you and your qualifications in the best possible light.

There is no fee to apply to Smith's Accelerated MBA program.

Admission Requirements

An undergraduate degree in business, commerce or a related field with a minimum B average and completion of the following prerequisite business courses with a B or better grade.

- Strategy
A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

Step One:
Preliminary Assessment

Application Advisors will work with you through every step of the application process. Begin your preliminary assessment by completing the online application form and attaching a scanned copy of resume and your transcripts (if available).

An Application Advisor will review and contact you (normally within 2-3 business days) and suggest helpful ways to strengthen your file. To speak with an Application Advisor, call toll-free 1.888.393.2622.

Step Two:
Complete your Application File

Applications for admission to the program must include:

Application Form
To be completed online.
Resume
A current resume that includes academic experience, work experience, memberships in professional associations, and volunteer and community activities.
Official Transcripts
An official transcript from each post-secondary institution you have attended.
Cover Letter
A cover letter outlining current responsibilities and assignments, career accomplishments, reasons for applying to the Accelerated MBA Program and your professional and personal goals.
Two References
Referees will be provided a link by your Application Advisor.
Personal Interview
An interview with the Program Director, either in person or virtual, upon completion of your application.

Applicants will be evaluated on the depth of their work experience, academic background and management/leadership skills. In some cases, the GMAT may be recommended as a way to strengthen your application file.

Ready to Apply?

There is no application fee. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as space and scholarships are limited. To qualify for the first round of academic scholarships, candidates must complete their application by the spring deadline: March 15th.

Upon acceptance into the program, a deposit of $5,000 is required to hold your place.

Information sessions provide the opportunity to learn more about the program and to meet the program director and an application advisor. As well, program alumni and current students are usually available to answer questions from the student perspective.

International Students

Post-Graduation Work Permit Eligibility

The AMBA program is eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which may allow eligible graduates to stay and work in Canada temporarily after completing the program.

PGWP eligibility and requirements are determined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and may change over time. Applicants are encouraged to review the latest information on the Government of Canada Post-Graduate Work Permit Website.

Please note: To be eligible for a PGWP through this program, students must attend the in-person boardroom sessions. Meeting this attendance requirement does not guarantee PGWP approval, as applicants must also meet all applicable IRCC eligibility criteria.

Applicants are expected to use BorderPass immigration support to prepare and submit their study permit applications. This no-cost service, included as part of the Queen’s Commitment Package, connects you with licensed Canadian immigration lawyers and provides end-to-end guidance to help ensure your immigration process is accurate, compliant, and stress-free.

WES Assessment

All applicants whose undergraduate education was taken outside of North America will be asked to submit a WES (World Education Service) comprehensive course-by-course evaluation to ensure that their credentials are equivalent to a four year bachelor’s degree in Canada. In addition to this, this evaluation will assist the admissions team in accurately assessing performance in specific subjects to ensure that the applicant has the quantitative ability necessary to be successful in the program.

This evaluation will also be used to assess your candidacy for scholarship consideration. Please note that we will accept copies of the assessment; however, will also require original degree documentation sent directly from the University that the degree was conferred.
