Biography
My research interest lies in understanding the social and environmental risks of MNEs in offshore outsourcing. With the proliferation of Global Value Chains (GVC), firms are increasingly contracting out their non-core operations to multi-tiered third-party suppliers to save costs and minimize economic risks. However, they are being implicated in violations of laws and norms by these suppliers and are called to take responsibility for the social and environmental conduct across their value chain. While previously, MNEs could take swift action for anomalies within their organizational boundaries, their participation in GVCs has generated difficulties for such initiatives. This is because suppliers are extra-organizational units, and monitoring is often challenging due to a lack of practice visibility, especially at the lower tiers. I intend to examine the antecedents and consequences of such risks and the strategies MNEs use to de-risk their supply chain operations.Educational Background
