Admissions

The online application for the 2024 intake is now open. The application deadline is January 15, 2024.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to complete their application to the School of Graduate Studies early and ahead of the application deadline. The Graduate Committee for Business will review completed applications and admission decisions are sent to applicants in March.

Eligibility Requirements and Supporting Documents

To be considered for admission, applicants typically have an A average in a discipline which is related to their field of interest. Applicants should also ensure they have the necessary documentation and meet the following criteria:

  1. Official transcripts from all universities attended.
  2. B+ (77%) average grade for the last 2 years of study.
  3. A GMAT or GRE score – no exceptions will be considered.
  4. If English is not your first language, one of two English tests:
    • IELTS minimum overall score of 7
    • TOEFL minimum overall score of 100 or higher

    Any applicant whose first language is not English, but who, within the 12-month period prior to the month of application, has studied for at least one complete year at a post-secondary institution where English is the official language of instruction may apply for a waiver.   5. Two academic referees familiar with your research and academic potential.
  6. Resume
  7. Statement of research interests and career goals.

Tuition, Fees and Funding

PhD students receive competitive funding from Smith School of Business. Student are also encouraged to apply for external funding opportunities such as OGS and SSHRC.
