Biography
Julia Otte is a PhD candidate in Management (Business Economics) at the Smith School of Business, Queen's University (expected July 2026), and an incoming JD candidate at Queen's Law. Her research applies principal–agent and contract theory to the employment relationship, with current work examining how workplace inclusion policies and employees' identity disclosure decisions interact under shifting social climates. She also conducts research on pricing strategy in online retail markets (published in the Journal of Economics & Management Strategy) and in subscription box services. Her doctoral work was supported by a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship. Beyond her research, she has an active interest in equity advocacy, including work that led to province-wide changes to Ontario's university application system.
Research interests: identity economics; workplace inclusion and EDI policy; labour discrimination; contract theory; pricing, online retail, and subscription markets; the intersection of employment law and economics.
