Creating Strategic Change in Canadian Healthcare

For Canada’s healthcare system to meet future challenges, collaboration — among healthcare providers, businesses, researchers, policymakers, and others — will need to drive innovation.  The Creating Strategic Change in Canadian Healthcare conference, held in Toronto May 15 and 16, 2014 , brought together 150 senior Canadian healthcare leaders to explore what such collaboration could look like.

This paper summarizes the conference proceedings, focusing on four themes identified as needing pan-Canadian attention: pharmacare, health human resources, electronic health records, and integrated care. It includes insights from healthcare systems in Australia, the UK, Germany, France, Korea, South Africa, Sweden, and Denmark.

The conference, organized by The Monieson Centre for Business Research in Healthcare, was a joint initiative of Smith School of Business, Faculty of Health Sciences, and School of Policy Studies.
