The Rule of One: How to Accelerate Your Firm’s Global Growth Now

Learn to assess and capitalize on opportunities in overseas markets

The business landscape that Canadian firms have known and relied upon for decades is changing rapidly and creating significant uncertainty. Canadian firms of all shapes and sizes need to move quickly and manage the increased uncertainty by taking steps to diversify their firms—enhancing their international presence and growing both their global base of customers and their supply chains.

Fortunately, Canada’s brand name in product and service markets worldwide is already strong. Canada has also signed onto free trade deals that have opened the door to substantial growth opportunities for Canadian firms in countries around the world.

Guided by global business strategy professor Michael Sartor, you’ll be introduced to the Rule of One and dive into the key questions that you need to answer to chart a course for your organization’s growth into new foreign markets.

Participants will explore:

  • Entry strategies: exporting, franchising, licensing, joint ventures, direct investment
  • Timing: when to make your move and why it matters
  • Location choice: what leaders need to know before choosing where to grow next
  • Cultural and institutional differences: what to consider in foreign markets

Designed for immediate application, this webinar will position you to take the lead in your firm’s exploration of new international markets. You’ll walk away well-equipped to start shaping your firm’s global future.

This webinar was recorded live on Thursday, October 23 at 1 pm and was presented by Smith Business Insight and Queen's Executive Education.
