Application Process

Admission Requirements

Please note: Admission to this program is highly competitive. Simply meeting the admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

To be considered for admission to the Queen's Master of Management Analytics program, applicants must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited university in one of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Business
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Engineering
  • Science

Successful applicants will have:

  • At least one mathematics or statistics course that covers hypothesis testing, linear regression, and their applications. (You may be asked to provide course descriptions in order to support your application.)
  • Typically, a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience. Exceptional applicants without work experience may be considered.
  • A GMAT score of 650 or above. This requirement may be waived for exceptional candidates.

Step One: Preliminary Assessment

Application Advisors will work with you through every step of the application process. Begin your preliminary assessment by completing the online application form and attaching a scanned copy of resume and your transcripts (if available).

Step Two: Complete your Application file

Your Application Advisor will ensure your completed file includes:

  1. Official Transcripts from each post-secondary institution you have attended sent by the Registrar of the institution directly to the Queen’s Master of Management Analytics Admissions Committee.
  2. Two references. Referees will be provided a link by your Application Advisor
  3. GMAT Score. Successful applicants will typically have a GMAT score of 650 or above. This requirement may be waived for exceptional candidates.

  4. A copy of your resume.
  5. A cover letter outlining current responsibilities and assignments, career accomplishments, reasons for applying to Queen's Master of Management Analytics, and professional and personal goals. 
  6. If your first language is not English and you have not lived in Canada for a minimum of three years, or if you did not do your undergraduate program in English you will need to take an English language test.

    English language facility admission policy:
    • Applicants whose native language is not English and whose undergraduate university studies were taken in a language other than English must achieve a satisfactory score on one of the accepted tests of facility in English (see chart below).
    • The test of facility in English is a firm requirement and admission decisions cannot be made until an acceptable score has been reported.
    • Test results must be in the form of an official report mailed directly by the testing centre to Admissions Committee.

  • People with an undergraduate degree in business and strong aptitudes and backgrounds in mathematics looking for more analytical training
  • People with a degree in mathematics, engineering or science students looking for applied, management-oriented, analytics training
  • IT professionals with strong mathematics backgrounds aiming to broaden their knowledge of emerging analytics applications

TOEFL

(Test of English as a Foreign Language)

Requirements:

  • Computer-Based Test: A minimum score of 250 and a minimum Essay Rating score of 5.0
  • Paper-Based Test: A minimum score of 600 and a Test of Written English (TWE) with a minimum score of 5.0
  • Internet-based test: A minimum score of 100 and a minimum score of 4 for writing

Candidates who plan to take TOEFL must obtain a copy of the Bulletin of Information form, and register through the agency responsible for the country or region in which they reside. To ensure that the results are forwarded directly to Queen’s, the code number 0949 (Dept. 02) must be inserted on the request for the Official Score Report.
