From Ambiguity to Direction: Turning Customer Insights into Product Strategy

Join us for the next session in the MDPM Subject Matter Expert (SME) Webinar Series. Throughout the series, you will explore the six areas of expertise developed in the Master of Digital Product Management.

Dr. Kathryn Brohman, MDPM Academic Director and Professor at Smith School of Business, will be joined by current students Selena Tong (Associate Strategist, Blakely) and Sylvester Mensah Jr. (Business Technology Manager, Morgan Stanley) for a practical conversation about product strategy and how teams can turn ambiguous customer challenges into focused product direction.

Using the Double Diamond as a framework, the session will explore how product teams can:

  • Explore user experiences and reframe broad or ambiguous challenges
  • Use customer insights and evidence to identify the problems worth solving
  • Explore multiple opportunities before committing to a solution
  • Make strategic choices about what to test, prioritize, and pursue
  • Use customer journey mapping and other tools to inform product strategy
  • Understand how AI skills and tools can support the product strategy process
  • Communicate the trade-offs and rationale behind strategic decisions

Selena and Sylvester will share insights from their client work, illustrating how these approaches can be applied in practice. The discussion will be followed by a live Q&A.
