A Year of Meaningful Connections and Collective Impact

The 2025 reunion season was one of the most active and engaged in recent memory. From milestone Commerce and MBA classes returning, to strong participation in Homecoming giving, Smith alumni showed tremendous commitment to reconnecting, celebrating and giving back.

“Across the globe, our alumni are doing extraordinary things — leading businesses, advancing research, serving communities, and inspiring the next generation. They embody the leadership, innovation, and integrity that define Smith,” says Interim Dean Lynnette Purda. “Each year, when they bring that spirit back to Smith, they help the business school continue to thrive.”

The inaugural Goodes Gathering lifelong learning event, Smith Engage events in Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto, and the 10th anniversary celebration honouring Stephen Smith’s gift the business school, are just a few ways Smith sought to connect with alumni throughout the year.

Alumni also galvanized in a big way. We saw renewed momentum across programs, with more people stepping forward as volunteer leaders and class connectors. This enthusiasm helped to strengthen engagement and advance class giving in support of future leaders. Here are some of the highlights from the past year.
