The inaugural MBA Alumni Golf Classic marks the beginning of what we hope will become a cherished annual tradition for the Smith community. Hosted at the renowned Scarboro Golf & Country Club, this signature event brings together alumni, faculty, students and friends for a day of golf, connection and celebration.
Set on one of Canada’s most prestigious private courses—and the only A.W. Tillinghast–designed course outside the United States—the event is designed to be welcoming to golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players. It’s an opportunity to enjoy a great round of golf while reconnecting with classmates, meeting new faces and strengthening the professional network that makes the Smith MBA experience so distinctive.
More than just a tournament, the Golf Classic is about community. It creates space for meaningful conversations between senior executives, entrepreneurs, faculty and students; connections that extend well beyond the course. At the same time, it’s a chance to celebrate the pride of being part of the Smith MBA family and to help shape the future of the program.

Register three golfers and we will complete your foursome with a current Smith MBA student. A meaningful opportunity to connect with the next generation of Smith leaders while enjoying the tournament together.
Golf with a Smith Professor
Register three golfers and be paired with a Smith School of Business faculty member for 18 holes of conversation, connection and friendly competition.

Build your own team of four with friends, classmates, colleagues or clients. The primary registrant may provide the remaining golfer details during registration or by the published player-information deadline.

Whether you're an experienced golfer or picking up a club for the first time, the event is designed to be fun, welcoming, and memorable. It is an opportunity to continue the spirit of .4
So, what exactly is Point 4 (0.4)?
The Queen’s MBA Golf Classic is an extension of one of the Smith MBA experience’s enduring traditions—the spirit of “.4” tradition. During the program, the Professors concluded that missing one evening of socializing to study might improve your grades by only about 0.4% and reminded students to balance academics with building lifelong connections and being part of the community. The Golf Classic brings that same spirit back for alumni: a day to reconnect, welcome new faces, strengthen our community, and create the next generation of Smith memories.

Who can attend?
The event is open to Smith MBA alumni, current Smith MBA students, faculty and staff, corporate partners and sponsors, and invited guests.
Do I have to be a Smith MBA alumnus to participate?
No. Alumni are encouraged to invite colleagues, clients, friends, and family members to join them.
Do I need to be an experienced golfer?
Not at all. Golfers of every skill level are welcome. The tournament will be played in a scramble format, making it enjoyable for beginners and experienced golfers alike.
I've never played golf before. Should I still register?
Absolutely. Many participants play only occasionally or are trying golf for the first time. The focus is on meeting fellow alumni, enjoying the day, and having fun.
Can I register as an individual?
Yes. Limited individual registrations are welcome, and we'll pair you with other alumni to create balanced foursomes.
Can I register for a foursome?
Yes. You can purchase your own foursome and determine the team.
What is included in my registration?
Registration includes the green fee, shared golf cart, access to practice facilities, a welcome gift, cocktail reception, dinner and awards ceremony, and networking opportunities throughout the day. Optional on-course charity games and challenges will also be available for an additional contribution, with proceeds supporting the Smith MBA Legacy Fund.
Are golf clubs available for rent?
Yes. Rental clubs may be available through Scarboro Golf & Country Club, subject to availability. We recommend reserving them in advance.
Is there a dress code?
Golf attire is required on the course.
What is the format of the tournament?
The event uses a scramble format. Each player hits a shot, the team selects the best one, and everyone plays from that location.
Will there be prizes?
Yes. Awards and prizes will be presented for team and individual tournament achievements. Participants will also have additional opportunities to compete, win prizes, and support the Smith MBA Legacy Fund through optional on-course charity games and challenges.
What on-course charity games and challenges will be available?
Throughout the day, participants can take part in a variety of optional on-course games, skill challenges, and charity activations designed to add to the fun of the tournament. Participation is not included in the registration fee and will require an additional contribution. Proceeds from these activities will support the Smith MBA Legacy Fund. Details, pricing, and payment options will be shared closer to the event.
Will food and beverages be provided?
Yes. Registration includes the evening reception and dinner. Additional refreshments and beverages will be available throughout the day.
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes. Please indicate any dietary requirements during registration.
Can non-golfers attend?
Yes. Limited Dinner-only tickets may be available for guests who wish to join the networking reception and evening program.
What happens if it rains?
The event is planned as rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the golf club will determine whether play should be delayed, modified, or cancelled.
Is parking available?
Yes. Complimentary parking is available at Scarboro Golf & Country Club.
How can my company become a sponsor?
Several sponsorship opportunities are available. Please contact the organizing committee for sponsorship details.
How will sponsors be recognized?
Sponsors receive recognition through event signage, digital communications, printed materials, and on-site acknowledgements based on sponsorship level.
Is this a fundraising event?
Yes. Net proceeds from the Golf Classic, including proceeds from optional on-course charity games and challenges, will support the Smith MBA Legacy Fund and help strengthen alumni engagement and future initiatives.
Will there be networking opportunities?
Absolutely. Networking is one of the primary objectives of the Golf Classic, with dedicated opportunities throughout the day and during the reception.
