Speaker

Mark Kashef,
MMAI'20

This interactive session will introduce practical ways AI tools may help with some of the more time-consuming or administrative elements of research work. Through demonstrations and discussion, Mark will walk through common research tasks and illustrate how AI tools can assist with organizing ideas, refining drafts, summarizing background materials, and preparing research outputs such as grant applications.

The goal of the session is to explore where these tools may be useful in supporting your research workflow, while keeping the core intellectual work and scholarly contributions firmly with the researcher.

During the workshop, participants will see:

  • A live demonstration of how AI tools can assist with drafting, editing, and organizing research materials
  • Opportunities for faculty Q&A and discussion about practical use cases
  • A discussion of considerations, limitations, and responsible use of AI tools in research contexts

Faculty are welcome to bring a current project, grant draft, or other research materials if they would like to follow along during the demonstration. We ask that faculty download Claude Cowork for the session.

We hope you will join us for this practical session exploring how AI tools may support elements of the grant writing process.

Lunch will be provided.
