New degree the latest in growing list of program innovations
Kingston, Ont. — Smith School of Business is expanding its MBA portfolio with a new online program designed for professionals who want ultimate flexibility in an MBA as they continue to work and advance their careers. The first cohort will begin in September 2026.
Designed with the same level of care and excellence as Smith’s other MBA programs, the new Global Online MBA is delivered through a combination of live online instruction and asynchronous learning. Following a common first year, students can complete the program in 24 or 36 months. Participants will have a cohort-based experience with direct faculty and instructor engagement via SmithOne, a sophisticated virtual learning platform. Applied coursework and immersive international learning experiences will prepare students to navigate the opportunities and complexities of the global business environment.
“Unlike other fully asynchronous or self-paced online MBAs, the Smith Global Online MBA combines maximum flexibility with the richness that comes from active and applied learning alongside other business professionals,” says Kerri Regan, Director of the Global Online MBA, Full-time MBA, and Master of International Business programs. “It offers participants the best of both worlds: the ability to balance work, life and study, with the opportunity to grow their professional network and earn a credential recognized across the globe by employers.”
The launch of the Global Online MBA is the latest in a growing list of program innovations at Smith aimed to help business professionals navigate a challenging employment landscape, and provide employers with talent equipped to meet current and evolving needs.
Early this year, Smith introduced the Full-time Master of Management Analytics. Designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals, this immersive, 16-month version of the business school’s respected Master of Management Analytics program emphasizes foundational analytics, hands-on learning and early-career readiness. Students attend classes on site at SmithToronto and have the option to include an internship as part of their studies, gaining valuable real-world experience and a setting to apply their learnings.
At the undergraduate level, Smith has revamped its Certificate in Business. The new, asynchronous online format makes it easy for participants to build their studies around their professional and personal commitments. Designed for those looking to gain foundational business skills and broaden their career opportunities, the program is available to Queen’s undergraduate students and alumni, as well as post-secondary students and graduates across Canada.
“From the launch of new programs to innovations to existing program curriculum and enhanced experiential learning opportunities, Smith is committed to remaining at the forefront of business education, with offerings that align with student needs, market demand and employer expectations,” says Interim Dean Lynnette Purda. “In a fast-changing world, we’re listening to the market and here to provide business professionals and organizations with the confidence and credibility to tackle what’s next.”
