Financial Times releases 2024 EMBA Rankings

Posted on October 15, 2024

Kingston, Ont. – Smith School of Business’ two Executive MBA programs have been ranked among the top 75 EMBA programs in the world by the Financial Times (FT).

“We are proud that Smith’s EMBA Americas and EMBA – The National Program were ranked in the just-released FT 2024 EMBA rankings. To receive this acknowledgment from the FT reinforces Smith as a leader in executive business education,” said Gloria Saccon, Director (Interim), EMBA Americas and Director, EMBA – The National Program.

The EMBA Americas program, a partnership between Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, is the highest-ranked Canadian program on FT’s list at No. 35 globally. EMBA Americas is also 23rd in career progress, which compares alumni’s current job seniority and organizational size to their position before entering the program. The EMBA Americas’ alumni network is ranked 31st overall, highlighting its effectiveness in providing career opportunities.

EMBA Americas alumni reported an average salary increase of 66 per cent, the second highest in Canada. The only program to top it was Smith's EMBA - The National Program (ranked 75th overall) which saw alumni report a 71 per cent average salary increase. This metric reflects the change in alumni earnings before and after completing the EMBA.

“Our programs support professionals in progressing their careers, and these salary results reflect our strength in this area,” Saccon said.

The Financial Times rankings take into account a survey of alumni three years post-graduation, providing insights into salary growth and career advancement after the EMBA. The FT also gathers data on student, faculty and board member diversity, international experience, environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, and faculty research.

In addition to Smith’s two EMBA programs, three other Canadian programs are listed in the 2024 rankings. View the complete FT 2024 Executive MBA rankings here.
