Established in October 2015, by Stephen J.R. Smith, BSc(Eng) ’72, and awarded on merit on the basis of academic excellence to students entering the Queen’s full-time MBA program at the Smith School of Business.

Forte Foundation Scholarship

Smith School of Business is the first Canadian business school to join Forté Foundation. This group of major corporations, top business schools and influential non-profit organizations is dedicated to directing women towards business education and business leadership roles, as well as working with corporations to more effectively attract and retain female talent.

Each year, Queen's awards Forté Foundation Fellowships to highly qualified women entering the MBA program. These Fellowships include a scholarship valued at $40,000 each.

The D&R Sobey Atlantic Scholarship

Established by Donald Sobey, B Com, 1957 and Robert Sobey, B.A. (Honours) 1988, and awarded on the basis academic excellence to students entering the full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business.  Awarded to Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents who completed high school in one of the Atlantic Provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island). Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the Queen's full-time MBA program.

MBA Opportunities Scholarship

Awarded to students who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents, entering the full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business from a non-traditional employment and/or education background. Preference will be given to students who would not otherwise be able to attend the MBA program at Queen’s University without the funding provided by this scholarship as determined by the Awards Committee of the Queen’s full-time MBA program. Preference may also be given to students entering the program who are from a location with a population of less than 500,000 (as defined by Statistics Canada). Awarded on the basis of academic excellence.

Jim Leech MBA Scholarship

Established in June 2013 by friends and colleagues in honour of Jim Leech, MBA 1973, in celebration of his retirement from the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students entering the Queen’s Full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business. Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the Queen’s Full-time MBA program.

Established in April 2011 by Len Morrow, MBA 1972, and awarded on the basis of academic excellence and leadership potential to female students entering the full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business. Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the Queen's full-time MBA program.

Professor Norman MacIntosh MBA Entrance Scholarship

Established by Jos Wintermans, MBA 1972, in honour of Professor Norman MacIntosh. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students entering the Master of Business Administration Program, Smith School of Business. Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the Smith School of Business.

MBA 1980 Class Scholarship

Established in January 2005 by the class of MBA 1980 and awarded to a student who has been accepted for admission to one of the Queen's MBA programs. Preference will be given to a student in the Full time MBA program. Selection will be made by the Smith School of Business and will be based on overall quality of the application. Particular emphasis will be placed on the applicant's standing in previous academic studies and performance on standardized admissions tests.

MBA 1981 Entrance Scholarships

Established in October 2006 by members of the class of MBA 1981 in recognition of the 25th anniversary of graduation from Smith School of Business. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated community leadership to a minimum of two students entering the Queen's MBA program in the School of Business. Preference will be given to students who may otherwise not be able to attend the MBA program at Queen's University.

Ian and Maureen Dawson MBA Scholarship

Established in 2013 by Ian (MBA 1985) and Maureen Dawson, this scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Selection is made by the Awards Committee of the Queen’s MBA program.

Costa Rica MBA Scholarship

Established by an anonymous donor, and awarded on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated community leadership to a Costa Rican citizen entering the full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business who would not otherwise be able to attend the MBA program at Queen’s University without the funding provided by the scholarship, as determined by the School of Business Awards Committee.

OSAP and Student Government Loans

OSAP assistance is available to Citizens of Canada or landed immigrants who are residents of Ontario. Students who do not meet the Ontario residency requirements are eligible for the Canada Student Loan. Visa students are ineligible to apply for these programs. Life Long Learning Plan (LLP)

The Government of Canada implemented the Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) to encourage higher education and training. The LLP allows you to withdraw up to $10,000 a year from your registered retirement savings plan (RRSPs) to finance training or education for you or your spouse or common-law partner. Established in 2011, by John (MBA 1971) and Helen McKay. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students from Atlantic Canada. Selection is made by the Awards Committee of the Queen’s MBA program.

Federau Kreel MBA Scholarship

Established in April, 2017, by Monica Federau, MBA 1988, the Federau Kreel MBA Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence to women students entering the Queen’s full-time MBA program. Recipients must be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents who do not have their tuition being subsidized by their employer. Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the Queen’s MBA program. The value is $2,000.

Leo and Mary Hogan MBA Scholarship

Established in 2013 by Joseph L Kennelly (BCom, 1974), in memory of his grandparents, Leo and Mary Hogan, this scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Preference is given to students with a background in arts administration, fine arts or performing arts. Selection is made by the Awards Committee of the Queen’s MBA program.

Academic Scholarships

General Entrance Scholarships

General entrance scholarships are awarded to applicants who the MBA Scholarship Committee deem to have the strongest overall profiles. Each year Queen’s awards over 50% of students with merit based scholarships ranging from $10,000 to the entire cost of the program.
