The Institute for Sustainable Finance

The Institute for Sustainable Finance is a multi-disciplinary network of research and professional development that brings together academia, the private sector and government to shape Canada’s innovations in sustainable finance. The Institute is at the intersection of sustainability and finance. Its mission is to align mainstream financial markets with Canada’s transition to a prosperous sustainable economy.

Scotiabank Centre for Customer Analytics

The goals of the Scotiabank Centre for Customer Analytics are: to bring together professors, graduate students and analytics practitioners to collaborate on applied research projects in customer analytics; and to build a community of data intensive users encouraging innovation across industries, in order to deliver a re-imagined customer experience.

Centre for Business Venturing

The Centre for Business Venturing at Smith School of Business is committed to being the leading and definitive source of knowledge and expertise in the creation, leadership and management of new ventures. We view it as our responsibility to be at the forefront of tackling the challenge of understanding the key success factors for entrepreneurial ventures, and translating these into long-term sustainability and growth for these important enterprises.

Centre for Social Impact

The mission for the Centre for Social Impact at Smith School of Business is to educate students and foster outreach and advocacy on issues of social impact. We do this by fostering education in the fields of responsible leadership and social impact; supporting research and providing advice in our key focus areas; providing support for communities; and being a global advocate on issues of responsible leadership and social impact.

The CPA Centre for Governance & Accountability

The CPA Centre for Governance & Accountability at Smith School of Business is committed to improving corporate governance in Canada through a variety of research and teaching programs. The Centre funds academic research into Canadian and international corporate governance issues, and contributes to the creation of leading-edge curriculum. The Centre is partially funded through the generosity of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

The Monieson Centre for Business Research

The Monieson Centre funds collaborative faculty initiatives, driven by rigorous academic research that forms the foundation for usable knowledge that impacts our thinking about business issues of contemporary importance. At present, the Monieson Centre is supporting three collaborative research initiatives.

IBM Canada | Smith Cognitive Computing Centre

The IBM Canada | Smith Cognitive Computing Centre resides at SmithToronto - our downtown learning facility. The Centre, which includes cloud-based access to IBM Watson and other selected IBM technologies, is used by Smith for learning, teaching and research opportunities. It is used by IBM to host clients and partners for the purposes of educating them about the capabilities of cognitive computing. The Center includes an interactive wall and immersion room. Smith School of Business is the only business school in Canada to house such a centre.
