90s Snapshot 1990

  • What was hot: flannel shirts, plaid pajama pants, fleece jackets, Levi’s, Doc Martens shoes, Grunge wear (loose and ripped jeans, band t-shirts, plaid) and collarless shirts. Tarantino owned the big screen. The Simpsons and Seinfeld ruled the tube. Grunge music slowly gave way to the return of boy bands and the sad realization that ‘80s music was 'retro'.
  • Favourite spot on campus: Alfie's for the good times, cheap beer and familiar music.
  • Favourite Kingston haunts: House of Sounds for record shopping, Stooley's for cheap eats, Bedore's Earl St. food market for everything else. The Brass for wings and beer, AJ’s Hanger and The Shot for good times and Za Master for late night eats.
  • Favourite music: The Beastie Boys, Oasis, Green Day, The Tragically Hip, Sloan, Jamiroquai, Dave Matthews Band, and Ben Harper.
