The Certificate in Business program consists of six introductory-level courses taught by the same renowned faculty who lead Smith’s top-ranked Bachelor of Commerce program and MBA programs. Delivered fully online, the Certificate offers a flexible way to develop the business skills you need to support your next career move.

Through four core courses, you’ll build a strong foundation in marketing, finance, accounting, and organizational behaviour. Two electives allow you to tailor your learning around your interests and career goals.

All courses appear on your official transcript and strengthen your ability to stand out in a competitive job market.

Admission Requirements

  • Queen’s graduates must have completed an undergraduate degree from Queen’s University. Applicants are considered Queen’s graduates after the first undergraduate degree is conferred.
  • Applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree at Queen’s must have a minimum 2.60 cumulative GPA to be considered for admission.
  • Queen’s graduates who have completed courses at Queen’s required for the Certificate, at the 200‐level, must have achieved at least a C‐ in those courses to be considered for admission. 

Progression Requirements

  • Achieve a minimum grade of C- (1.7) in each Certificate course.
  • Once enrolled in the Certificate, students from other post‐secondary institutions have up to five years (fifteen terms) to complete the Certificate.

Fees for 2025-2026

All credits must be taken at the 600-level to meet the certificate requirements.

Pay as You Go

Applicants pay a non-refundable application fee of $100. Tuition is assessed per course at the time of enrollment. There are no additional program fees.
