Shaping Business
& Society
Message from the Associate Dean (Research)
Discovering new knowledge through rigorous, evidence-based research is central to our credibility at Smith School of Business. Our faculty, trained at some of the best business schools and universities in the world, investigate questions of critical importance to business and society.
At Smith School of Business, we believe that our researchers are the best people to determine what questions to ask and how to investigate them. We provide researchers with the freedom and support to pursue the questions that they believe, if answered, will provide the most impact. This is evident in the awards and impact that our research and researchers have achieved. We have researchers in the top 2% of scientists worldwide, papers that have obtained more citations than any other paper in their area in top business journals, research that has garnered prestigious awards for its real-world impact such as Financial Times Responsible Business Education Awards, and much more.
Our research informs our teaching, too. Smith School of Business prides itself on our small classrooms and collaborative environment. Students across our programs closely interact with and learn from some of the best researchers in their fields. Not only do students learn cutting-edge knowledge from those who are producing it, but we teach about the research process so that students learn how to critically evaluate evidence and generate and test new ideas.
