Smith MBA ranked #1 in Canada

Posted on February 12, 2024

Kingston, Ont. – The Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business has secured the top spot in the country in the recently released Financial Times Global MBA ranking.

“Our graduates have long been aware of the power and impact that a Smith MBA holds in the marketplace,” says Wei Wang, Associate Dean, Professional Graduate Programs. “That the Financial Times has now ranked the program as No. 1 in Canada is a testament to our faculty, staff, students and, of course, our MBA graduates.”

In addition to ranking first in the country overall, Smith also ranked No. 1 in Canada and 30th in the world for career services. Notably, 96 per cent of Smith MBA students were employed three months after graduation, and graduates saw a 108 per cent increase in salary (calculated based on the difference in their pre- and post-MBA salaries).

“Ranking first in career services in Canada for the fourth year in a row reflects the school’s dedication to deliver an outstanding learning experience for our students resulting in exceptional career outcomes,” says Karen Jackson-Cox, Executive Director, Smith’s Career Advancement Centre. “Our tailored approach, which includes one-on-one career coaching, personal development, and strategic networking, empowers our students to achieve their career aspirations. We are committed to being industry’s top source for business school talent in the country and are proud of the diverse partnerships built with employers.”

Smith also ranked No. 1 in Canada for its alumni network, reflecting how well graduates support one another to build career opportunities, start companies and gain new ideas. And Smith ranked first in the country and 25th in the world for value for money.

The Financial Times Global MBA ranking is based on three categories of criteria: career progress; diversity; and research and environmental, social and governance (ESG). Data is collected from a survey of schools and a survey of alumni three years after they graduate.

Smith ranked 62nd overall, up nine spots from 2023, in the table of the world’s 100 top-ranked MBA programs. Only four Canadian programs made the 2024 list.
