Application Process

There are three components to the application process. An evaluation will be provided at the end of each segment. There is no application fee.

International Application Completion Deadline: January 15, 2021

We encourage you to apply as early possible. This deadline, based on current Canadian immigration wait times, represents the latest date for international applicants to complete all elements of the application process in order to allow sufficient time for study visa processing.

Preliminary Assessment

  • Complete the online application form and attach your Linkedin profile or a copy of your resume
  • Once received, an Application Advisor will provide a link to complete a video essay on an online platform. This platform records your responses to questions around your experience, interest in the program, and what makes you an excellent candidate.

Application Advisors will work with you through every step of the application process.

Following the completion of the application form, an Application Advisor will review and contact you (normally within 2-3 business days) and suggest helpful ways to strengthen your file. To speak with an Application Advisor, call toll-free 1.844.533.6921 or 613.533.6921.

*All applications will be reviewed following the submission of your preliminary assessment. Only successful candidates will move forward.

Complete Your Application File

Your completed application file will include:

  • Statement of Purpose outlining why you would like to enter the program and why you think you would be an excellent candidate.
  • One reference who is familiar with campus involvement, organization participation or professional experience. Referees will be provided a link by your Application Advisor.
  • Official Transcripts from each post-secondary institution you have attended sent by the Registrar of the institution directly to Smith's MMIE Admissions Committee.
  • English proficiency test results (if required)

An interview will be completed at some point during your application process based on the availability of both parties

Once you have completed online application and submitted the required supporting documentation, you will proceed to an interview (in person, Zoom, or by telephone) with a member of the program’s leadership. When all of your application requirements have been received, your file will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and a decision will be made regarding your admission.
