Full Bio

Alton is a bilingual (English and French) seasoned Human Resources (HR) professional with a decade plus experience in both the public and private sectors. His HR work has led him to work on various projects such as staffing; organizational design and classification; equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility; performance management; mentorship training and development; HR policy and development; and official languages, among others. This work has occurred in vastly different industries, among them: customer service; hospitality; consumer goods; manufacturing; engineering; professional services; federal government and higher education.

In addition to his work at Queen’s, Alton has also been Professor, Course Developer, and Program Coordinator at various colleges and universities, teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Alton is Senior HR Advisor in the Government of Canada, he is passionate about inclusive workplaces, experiential learning, and bridging theory with practice for the next generation. His teaching style integrates lived experience with theory, using real-world case studies, simulations, and interactive discussions to create an engaging learning environment.

Alton received a Human Resources and Industrial Relations Degree from the University of Toronto, a Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate from Georgian College, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources Leadership from the University of Fredericton. Alton possesses the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation via the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).
