Full Bio

Valerie Bartlett is an Adjunct Lecturer with the Commerce Program and a Team Performance Coach with the MBA and Master of Management programs at Smith School of Business. As a lecturer she teaches courses in General Management and Organizational Behaviour. As a Team Performance Coach she works with graduate student academic teams to support their growth and development. She has worked with many teams across a number of our programs including Full-Time MBA, MMA, MMAI, MFin, GDB, and AMBA.

She was recently recognized for her support of students by being nominated as a Champion of Mental Health.

Valerie holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management from the University of Guelph as well as a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University.

Valerie has a diverse background, starting her career in the finance department at Smith School of Business. Her career advanced quickly through various positions in the School of Business, Advancement, Alumni Relations and the Department of Medicine. Throughout her career Valerie focused her skills on event planning, volunteer management, human resources development and financial management. In addition to her teaching at Smith, she is a part-time faculty member at St. Lawrence College and Lambton College where she designs and delivers a variety of courses to domestic and international students both in the classroom and online. She is also an HR Associate with Business Sherpa Group in Ottawa providing consulting services to SMEs. She conducts Quality Assurance audits of third party partner schools, ensuring adherence to rules and regulations and that students are receiving quality education.

Valerie is passionate about education, both formal and informal. She believes in being a positive catalyst for change and helping students realize their full potential through coaching, mentoring and focusing on skills and learning that go beyond the classroom.
