Abayomi Baiyere is an Associate Professor & Distinguished Research Fellow of Digital Technology at Smith School of Business, Queen's University. He also holds affiliation with the Digitalization Department of Copenhagen Business School and the University of Turku and has been a Research Affiliate at MIT Sloan Center for Information Systems Research. Before joining academia, he worked for companies such as SAP, ABN AMRO (Dialogues Incubator), and as an Entrepreneur. Abayomi Baiyere is an Associate Professor & Distinguished Research Fellow of Digital Technology at Smith Business School, Queen's University. He also holds affiliation with the Digitalization Department of Copenhagen Business School and the University of Turku and has been a Research Affiliate at MIT Sloan Center for Information Systems Research. Before joining academia, he worked for companies such as SAP, ABN AMRO (Dialogues Incubator), and as an Entrepreneur. His research interest sits at the intersection of digital transformation, digital disruption, and the societal impact of digitalization. His studies have looked at these issues from an organizational and societal perspective. His research mostly takes a design science, ethnography, or mixed methods orientation.

Some of his research has been recognized with best paper awards or nominations, such as – AoM CTO 2022 Best Paper Publication | JAIS 2021 Best Paper Honourary Mention | CMCE 2021 Research Award | EJIS 2020 best paper award | AoM OCIS 2020 Best-published Paper Award runner-up (ISR) | ECIS 2020 Best Paper Award nominee | MCIS 2018 Best Paper Award and | ICIS 2017 Paperathon Joint Winner, among others.

He serves as the president of the Digital Innovation, Transformation and Entrepreneurship special interest group of AIS and the immediate past lead of the Digital Disruption and Transformation special interest group of ISPIM. He also leads and co-organizes the African Workshop in Information Systems workshop series. He has served as an executive member of the CTO (formerly OCIS) division of AoM.

He holds editorial roles as associate editor in leading journals such as MIS Quarterly [incoming], Information Systems Journal - ISJ, and European Journal of Information Systems. He has served as guest editor on special issues in ISJ, Technovation and Journal of Strategic Information Systems among others. He is also on the editorial board of Information and Organization. His work has been accepted in journals such as MIS Quarterl (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS), European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), California Management Review (CMR), Technological Forecasting and Social Change (TFSC), among others.
