NEGOTIATIONS (MMIE Program)

A Workshop Facilitator position is open at the Smith School of Business to facilitate the Negotiations workshop in our Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MMIE) program. This workshop takes place in the fall term and is set for Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Kingston.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or Ph.D., and familiarity and professional experience in facilitating similar workshops and/or teaching university courses.

 

The course is described as follows:

This engaging interactive workshop is designed to equip participants with the foundational skills and strategies necessary for successful negotiations. The workshop emphasizes practical, hands-on learning through live simulations and role-playing activities that reflect real-world negotiation scenarios.

 The facilitator will guide participants through the theory and practice of effective negotiation, introducing key concepts such as preparation, building rapport, identifying interests, understanding frames, dealing with different styles and cultures and crafting win-win outcomes. The workshop will cover handling difficult negotiations, negotiators and managing conflict, providing participants with the tools to remain calm and confident under pressure.

 The facilitator will help participants reflect on their own negotiation style, develop strategies for improvement, and enhance their ability to navigate complex discussions. Role-playing activities will be used to allow participants to apply techniques, with immediate feedback provided for skill development in a supportive environment.

Strong expertise in negotiation, practical experience in diverse negotiation contexts including start-ups, organizational innovation and change management, and the ability to engage and energize a group through active learning are essential for the successful delivery of this workshop.

8 hours of live delivery in total.

Compensation

Standard faculty workshop hourly rate of $451.33
