MFIT High Performance Teams Workshop Facilitator

A Workshop Facilitator position is open at the Smith School of Business to facilitate the High Performance Teams workshop in our Master of Financial Innovation & Technology (MFIT) program. This workshop takes place in January 2025.  Delivery will be in person at Smith Toronto.

Qualifications

  • Preferred qualifications include: a Master’s degree or Ph.D., and familiarity and professional experience in facilitating similar workshops and/or teaching university courses. Experience in facilitating similar master’s level team-based workshops and/or teaching university courses. Experience in assessing team dynamics and offering solutions with a path toward being a high performing team.  Experienced in the Big Five Assessment tool from the University of Calgary.

The workshop is described as follows:

This workshop takes place during our MFIT opening session. It is the first time that students are introduced to, and start to work with, their program teams.  Given that a portion of the evaluation for each course is based on team-related work, it is critical that these teams understand the fundamental principles of what makes for high performance teams, gain exposure to the steps required for high performance teams and establish their operating principles (mission, norms and goals).  The workshop should take into consideration that the majority of students are working professionals, who bring with them team experience, for better or for worse.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Theoretical and the practical foundations for the creation and ongoing operation of high-performance teams in an educational and business setting
  • Allow for students to start to get to know each other through break-out exercises and discussions
  • Debrief and leverage the students’ Big Five Assessment results inventory
  • Supply resources and tools for students that specially speak to successful operation of a virtual team
  • Teams will create a team contract, including a mission, goals and set of norms. This document will be used throughout the year by the teams as well as their Team Coaches who support them through their team journey
  • Reinforce from the Asynchronous content; the assignment and administrative roles and coaching best practices.
