Hybrid & Online Learning
Smith School of Business and Queen’s Executive Education offer programs via in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
In each case, teaching and student engagement are designed to ensure an optimal learning experience.
Smith has more than 20 years of leadership in delivering business education in remote, hybrid and online settings across multiple degree and executive education programs.
SmithStudio
Smith’s studio was specifically built for live broadcast teaching to dispersed students.
SmithStudio connects instructors and students located across Canada and around the world in a dynamic, interactive format that facilitates teaching, discussion, and collaboration.
Multi-camera production, broadcast-quality audio, and screen integration create an experience that feels engaging, personal, and immediate—far beyond a typical video call.
The studio provides a sophisticated environment for faculty and instructional designers to produce compelling content.
Smith School of Business Boardroom Learning Centres
Smith offers an in-person boardroom learning option in select MBA and professional Master’s programs.
In this model, students attend in-person with other local students at a Smith boardroom site in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Mississauga, or Ottawa. They connect online with other boardrooms of students and Smith instructors teaching from SmithStudio for dynamic, cohort-based learning.
In addition, Smith offers a virtual boardroom version which allows students in locations without an in-person boardroom option to experience the cohort learning model fully from their home, office, or other location.

SmithOne
SmithOne is our virtual learning platform used by some hybrid and online Smith programs.
It is a laptop portal to a rich shared learning experience including live classes with faculty who know your name, real-time discussions with classmates across industries and time zones, and collaborative work that feels immediate and human. You’re not watching; you’re fully participating.
The platform is your academic hub bringing together course materials, content, archived class material, collaboration tools, and peer connections in one seamless space. Plus, you connect directly through SmithOne to live classes which are designed for interaction, not passive viewing. Expect dynamic discussions, breakouts, and group problem-solving.
The result is a student experience that’s flexible without feeling distant, rigorous without being isolating, and deeply engaging despite the screen. You build relationships, sharpen your thinking, and stay fully immersed while balancing work, life, and learning on your terms.
Purpose-built for business education by Smith School of Business and Queen’s Computing, SmithOne is fast, interactive, and designed for leaders who work on screen, across time zones, and under real-world pressure.
