Fulbright Canada Research Chairs to join Smith this fall

Kingston, Ont. — Smith School of Business is excited to welcome two professors from U.S. universities to the school’s research community as Fulbright Canada Research Chairs. 

One of the most widely recognized and prestigious international exchange programs in the world, the Fulbright Canada Research Chairs program strengthens Smith's research community by bringing new perspectives and collaborative opportunities to the school. This year, Russell Matthews, a professor of management at the University of Alabama, and Anand Nair, a professor of supply chain and information management at Northeastern University, will visit Smith through the program.  

Professor Matthews is a highly-cited scholar in industrial organizational psychology, whose work examines employee well-being, neurodiversity at work, workplace mistreatment, the work-family interface and organizational behaviours more broadly. During his time at Smith, he will be conducting cross-cultural validation for a revised organizational citizenship behaviour scale he has pioneered with colleagues, using subtle but important differences between U.S. and Canadian workplaces as a natural comparative laboratory.  

Professor Nair is a prolific scholar whose research explores how firms, teams and individuals learn, adapt and organize to manage processes, supplies, technology and innovation, and the associated performance implications. At Smith, he will be working in partnership with the Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Vedat Verter, Stephen J.R. Smith Chair of Management Analytics, on an AI-enabled remote patient monitoring project to help hospitals identify at-risk patients and reduce re-admissions. 

By connecting scholars from different contexts, these appointments spark fresh ideas, deepen existing research partnerships and create opportunities for faculty and students alike to engage with diverse approaches. While at Smith, both professors will engage with graduate students and present their works via guest lectures or workshops.
