QSB mourns loss of colleague, friend

Posted on January 27, 2014
Kingston, ON – On January 25, Queen’s School of Business (QSB) lost a beloved friend and colleague when staff member Ben Whitney passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41. Flags on Queen’s campus are lowered in memory of Ben.

Throughout his 15-year career with Queen’s, Ben worked closely with staff, faculty and students in many areas of the business school, including leadership roles with Queen’s full-time MBA and more recently the Master of International Business program. In early January, Ben joined Queen’s Executive Education as the Director of Strategy and Research.

Originally trained in broadcast journalism, Ben went on to earn a degree in Political Science from Queen’s (BAH’95) and joined the university as a staff member in 1999.

Ben’s untimely death comes as a shock to the tight-knit QSB community. He will be remembered fondly for his wit, generous spirit and commitment.

Ben is survived by his wife, Christie, sons Benjamin (11) and Ethan (8).

Join us on Saturday, February 8th as friends and family celebrate the life of Ben Whitney. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Benjamin & Ethan Whitney fund.
