Kingston, ON - Oct. 8, 2014 – A Queen’s Commerce team captured the top prize at the fifth annual Alberta Energy Challenge, hosted by the University of Alberta School of Business in Edmonton.  The competition took place Sept. 25-28 and attracted teams from Canada, the U.S. and overseas to compete in a business case challenge focused on the energy sector.  Teams were given 36 hours to research and develop a solution for a real-time challenge faced by an energy firm

“It was a thrill to accompany these third-year students to Edmonton,” says Prof. Shannon Goodspeed, the team’s faculty advisor. They prepared and presented this challenging case in such a professional manner that it was clear to everyone that they were the winning team. The students were excellent ambassadors for QSB and won first place graciously.”

Congratulations to Tyler Wedekamm, Tusaani Kumaravadivel, Donna Yan and Som Ghosh for their first-place win. Second place honours went to the University of Alberta, with the University of Oklahoma placing third.
