I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

Having collaborated with diverse organizations as a talent acquisition professional throughout seven years of my career journey, I realized that I needed to learn different aspects of business and decision-making in a formal setting to transition to a leadership role in human resources. Modern workplaces require us to collaborate with cross functional teams to achieve strategic goals continuously. The Smith MBA program’s approach of working in a team of six or seven people mimics the professional workplace. It prepares its students to learn team-based skills and the ability to make decisions by assimilating diverse perspectives.

If I could go back and give myself advice one year ago, it would be to focus on the strengths and inculcate a willingness to learn from other’s experiences. Everyone is unique in their approach towards the same problem, and those differences are what make us human.

I am trying to widen my perspective of approaching the organizational issues by learning from the diverse cohort and looking forward to leveraging those learnings in my future roles. One tip for the new applicants would be not to undermine the power of knowledge sharing, curiosity and seeking the guidance of alumni, faculty and industry experts to help you make the best possible choices.
