Julia Coupland ('22)

While I was completing my undergraduate degree to ultimately work in healthcare, I realized that I wanted a career that was more dynamic and wouldn’t “silo” me into a certain role. When I found the GDB and spoke with Jim, the program director, and past alumni, I knew it was the perfect program that would allow me to pair my undergraduate expertise with my newfound interest in business. Before starting the program, I was worried that I needed to know exactly what career path I wanted to take but that’s not the case! The GDB offers a diverse curriculum, industry networking events and amazing career coaches that allowed me to explore my numerous interests to help me find the best path for me.

My favourite part of the program was the team-based learning approach as you get to experience what it takes to work and excel in a high-functioning team. The program is intense, but your team and the supportive Smith staff are there every step of the way to help you realize your potential and accomplish your goals. You transform tremendously as an individual and as a team within four months, finishing the program feeling more confident and attuned to start your career. I highly recommend taking advantage of all the supplemental activities, courses and events that are offered throughout the program – you never know what you’ll end up liking and the memories and connections made are priceless.
