Rodolfo Rivas is a professional AI practitioner with extensive experience in advanced analytics and AI product management. Currently, Rodolfo serves as the Senior Manager of AI Risk Governance at Scotiabank, where he focuses on developing policies and processes for the ethical and trustworthy application of AI.
Prior to Scotiabank, Rodolfo held various roles at TD Bank, including Senior Manager of Advanced Analytics and Technical Product. In this capacity, he was a Sr Product Owner for the AI Centre of Excellence, overseeing the AI product lifecycle and developing strategies to enhance AI adoption organization wide. Earlier in his career at TD, he served as Senior Advisor for Enterprise Data and Analytics Strategy and Planning, leading projects through an internal consulting approach focused on integrating people, processes, data, and technology to achieve business objectives. Rodolfo’s contributions at TD spanned diverse business functions, including fraud detection, insurance, human resources, and treasury balance sheet management.
Before entering the financial industry, Rodolfo gained valuable experience in manufacturing and logistics, holding roles as a research and development chemist and operations manager focused on inventory optimization and continuous improvement.
Rodolfo holds a Licentiate degree in Chemistry, an MBA, and a Master of Management Analytics from Queen’s University. He currently teaches Mathematics for AI in the MMAI program and Machine Learning in the MMA and MFIT programs at Queen’s. Additionally, he teaches Research Methods & Statistical Inference at York University (Master in Financial Accountability) and developed and taught Statistics for the Data Science Fundamentals Certificate at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies.
