Term Adjunct Position

Term Adjunct - COMM 322 Advanced Corporate Finance

A Term Adjunct position is open at the Smith School of Business for an instructor to teach at our Kingston (main) campus in a lecture-style undergraduate course. The position is to teach the Advanced Corporate Finance course, COMM 322, which is taught during the winter term. Teaching this course will generally include teaching twelve "three-hour" sessions from January to April 2025. The successful applicant will be required to teach 100% of one (1) section with an anticipated enrollment of approximately 55 students per section.  

Qualifications

Qualifications include: a Master’s degree or Ph.D., several years of familiarity and professional experience in finance and experience teaching related university courses

The course is described as follows:

This course is an advanced undergraduate course in corporate finance. The course will cover corporate finance topics at a deeper level, notably by using Mathematica for modelization and computations. It will also introduce new topics such as real options, financial constraints, and corporate governance. It is also recommended that students have the capacity for mathematical reasoning and a basic knowledge of regression analysis. Students will be expected to master the tools needed by practitioners in corporate finance; to understand simple mathematical models underlying corporate finance theories; and to have learned lessons from case studies and empirical studies.

Compensation

Smith offers a competitive salary package. The minimum starting salary for a term adjunct teaching one section of a course in our Commerce program is $12,001.33, which excludes vacation pay and lieu of benefits pay.
