Commerce's first home: 75 Union Street 1930
It was in 1930 that W.A. Mackintosh persuaded authorities to make available to the Department the former Home for Friendless Women and Children, located at 75 Union Street. Although supposedly a temporary arrangement, the building housed the Department of Political and Economic Science, and Commerce and Administration for twenty-nine years. Lifestyle was cramped in this little two storey building. Under this roof, however, the small faculty guided the direction of the School of Commerce and Administration.
