Stock Trading Simulation winners open the market at the TSE

As if wheeling and dealing on the trading floor of the original Toronto Stock Exchange building on Bay Street wasn’t exciting enough, Commerce students who won a stock trading simulation earned the ultimate prize: They opened the TSE market on 2010’s first day of trading.

The simulation is the highlight of the annual Queen’s School of Business Finance Association Conference (QFAC), which focuses on finance and capital markets. Student delegates network with professionals and explore a variety of finance related careers. Assisted by investment professionals, the delegates then compete by trading stocks and options in a real-time stock market challenge at the old TSE building.

The trading simulation winners joined Robert Fotheringham, Senior Vice President, Trading, TMX Group, to open the market for the first day of trading of the new year on January 5.
