GDA Information Session

Join us for an in-person information session to learn more about upcoming changes to the CPA program and the Smith Graduate Diploma in Accounting (GDA), and what these changes will mean for the program next year and in the years ahead.

Major changes to the CPA program are on the horizon. There will be a new focus on emerging issues such as sustainability, data analytics, and the integration of artificial intelligence in accounting. In response, the GDA program is evolving to align with these new priorities, including the introduction of updated competencies, new and revised courses, and a restructured curriculum designed to meet the new licensing requirements of CPA Ontario (and CPA bodies across Canada).

The goal of this session is twofold. First, we will introduce students to the revitalized GDA program, which will roll out for students beginning in May 2027. Second, we will review the changing CPA examination structure and explain how the new GDA program will prepare students for these more integrative assessments.

Cara Chesney, Director of the GDA, will lead the session and speak directly to the upcoming changes, the new program structure, and what this means for students considering the GDA pathway.
