Mustafa Ansari, MMIE’19, visited all 10 provinces over the past two summers to better understand Canada's history and culture before taking his citizenship test. He rounded out his tour in Newfoundland this August after passing the citizenship test in July.

Mustafa Ansari, MMIE, shares that after graduating from Smith, he founded the first community-based Rotaract Club in Kingston. He was president of the club for one year and is now the co-district Rotaract representative for District 7040 and looks after Rotaract operations in eastern Ontario, western Quebec, northern New York and Nunavut.

Mustafa Ansari, MMIE, launched a non-profit called The Expats Pakistan, which raises funds in Canada and directs them into projects in rural Pakistan that he says empower local people and provide them with financial independence. The organization also provides COVID relief packages. “This pandemic presented a huge challenge,” he says. “But thankfully, with everyone’s support, I converted it into an opportunity for us, the expats of Pakistan, to give back, do our part and help our community back home.” www. expatspakistan.org.

Michael Benzinger, BCom, writes: “This summer I found myself with a bit of time off in between jobs. Peru had always been high on my bucket list and so I took the opportunity to visit Peru and Ecuador over a month in the summer. Highlights of the trip included watching the sun rise over Machu Picchu after a five-day hike through the Andes and snorkeling in the protected waters off the Galapagos Islands.”

Rushi Chandarana, MIB’19, let us know that he’s started a new role as the logistics and marketing head for Pirates of Coffee Inc. He looks after imports and exports as well as packaging design and marketing tactics for North America, the Middle East and Central Asia. Rushi also travelled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, proposed to his girlfriend of
10 years and got his motorcycle licence.
