Heather (McDonald) Geiger
Heather (McDonald) Geiger, BCom, was named 2017 Emerging Training Leader by Training Magazine, after being nominated by her INSEAD business partners for stellar leadership of the INSEAD-Accenture Online Strategy Certificate Programme.This programme had earned the Gold Chief Learning Officer (CLO) Business Partner Award in 2016. Heather celebrates 25 years with Accenture in June.

Erica Hamel, MBA, Ed’09, and Joshua Hamilton, MBA’16, welcomed baby Felix in June. Erica says Felix was the second of three babies born to MBA’16 classmates within a month of one another in 2018. Margaret Hong, MBA’16, welcomed Jackson in June, and Jenna Archer, MBA’16, welcomed Noah in July. “Three future MBA grads!”

Erica Hamel and Joshua Hamilton, both MBA, got engaged in February in the mountains of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Their wedding is planned for September 2017 at a family cottage in Muskoka, Ont.

Marja Hillis, EMBAA, died in her Ayton, Ont. home March 11. She was 50. Marja was the wife of Mark, mother of Mona and stepmother to Rejean and Brittany.

Dave M. Hooge
Dave M. Hooge, EMBA, President and General Manager of Calgary’s Stepper Custom Homes, received the George Frieser Award, the highest accolade of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) - Alberta. The award recognizes leadership, dedication and outstanding long-time service at the provincial level. As a long-time volunteer with the association, Dave’s extensive service includes terms as president of both CHBA Calgary Region and CHBA Alberta. While in the latter position, from 2012 to 2013, Dave was a driving force behind a stronger focus on safety initiatives, and his legacy can be seen today in programs such as Building to SECOR/COR, which is helping member companies develop recognized safety programs.

Jojo Huang

Jojo Huang, MIB’16, tells us she earned her CFP designation and passed the CFA level II exam in 2022. She rewarded herself with a trip to Veradero, Cuba. “For the first time, I tried scuba diving, which was an amazing experience underneath the water.”

Niki Kalergis, BCom’16, GDA’16, and Nick Murray, BSc(Eng)’16, were engaged in August 2023. They live in San Francisco, where Niki is a manager at a professional services firm and Nick is a mechanical engineer at a space tech startup.

Ahilan Kumaraverl
Ahilan Kumaraverl, AMBA, has joined Ernst & Young as manager of risk management and assurance in Toronto. Prior to joining EY, he worked in the financial services industry in the areas of management, risk and strategy. Ahilan is a board director at Future Sinai, part of the Sinai Health Foundation, and also sits on the board of the Warden Woods Community Centre in Toronto. He was a speaker last fall at the Social Innovation Bootcamp at Smith, and says he looks forward to his continued involvement with the school and Queen’s.
