Shakir Hussein, EMBA, shared the news that he was recently honoured to receive a “Top 40 Under 40 Award” from the Brampton Board of Trade. Since graduating, Shakir has become the head of transportation and planning at 407 ETR and is a mentor in the mobility vertical of the Cross Border Angels istarthub accelerator program.
Andrew Kay, MFin, has started a new role with Altus Assessments as an account executive. Andrew continued his education upon graduation from the MFin program, completing an MBA at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He has since returned to Toronto, where he now works with academic programs around the world to better assess candidates, engendering more holistic admissions processes.
Matthew Klar, AMBA, tells us he has joined “The Greater” as a co-founder. “The Greater” is a strategy consultancy that, Matthew says, “builds great brands by helping them do good in the world, advising on CSR, social impact and philanthropy strategies.” It works with clients to donate 50 per cent of net profits to worthy causes. The consultancy launched in late 2020. Before that, Matthew was head of strategy at sports sponsorship agency MKTG Canada.
Scott Miranda, MBA, married Mandy Ghuman on July 17. With gathering restrictions lifted in Quebec, the pair (who met shortly after Scott finished his MBA and moved to Montreal) was able to celebrate with close friends and family. Scott is a delivery manger with Plusgrade, a travel-technology firm.
Kate Morsink, BCom’17, was selected by the Environmental Defense Fund for its Climate Corps Fellowship. Kate worked on a plan to develop a sustainable packaging roadmap for Wayfair. Her final recommendation focused on eliminating Styrofoam and plastic and reducing waste and excess packaging from Wayfair’s supply chain while moving to use only responsibly sourced paper and cardboard. For her work on the project, she received an award from the Climate Corps. Kate recently completed her Master of Science in Sustainability Management at Columbia Climate School. In March, she joined Boston Consulting Group’s climate and sustainability practice in New York City as a consultant.
