Jim McPherson
Jim McPherson (BCom) is excited to announce that he has joined Owen Quilty, CA, to form Quilty McPherson LLP Chartered Accountants. They have two Ontario offices, one in Midland and the second (opened in March) in Wasaga Beach.

George Rossolatos

George Rossolatos, BCom, has been named Fellow of CPA Ontario (FCPA). George leads the Canadian Business Growth Fund (CBGF), a $545-million fund that invests in growing Canadian companies.

George Rossolatos, BCom, was appointed CEO of the new Canadian Business Growth Fund. With funding from Canadian banks and insurance companies, the $500-million fund plans to make minority growth-equity investments in small- and medium-sized Canadian companies.

Andrew Trickett, BCom, has joined the board of directors of the New York  Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, also known as Answer the Call. Andrew is a senior partner at Safanad, an international investment management firm.

Joe Vosburgh, MBA, has joined Nanotech Security Corp. in Burnaby, B.C. as vice-president of marketing. Nanotech develops anti-counterfeiting security products for such items as banknotes, tax stamps and government documents. Joe’s career has taken him to a number of companies, including Creo, Ballard Power Systems, Corvus Energy, Schneider Electric and, most recently, Igloo Innovations, where he was COO. Joe’s responsibilities at Nanotech cover strategy, product development and marketing.

Megann Willson, MBA, says she is “having fun helping people right-size their homes in the Greater Toronto Area” as a real-estate agent for HomeLife/Realty One, and is always glad to hear from Queen’s grads to help them “move bravely.” Megann continues to run her consulting business, Panoptika (panoptika.ca). On a personal note, she’s adjusting to being a long-distance grandma to Sophie, who has moved with parents Richard and Aline to Montreal.

The company she co-founded with partner Steve Willson works with clients around the world to help them understand their customers; to facilitate collaboration with their customers; and to coach them in taking their careers or businesses in a new direction.

Megann Willson (MBA’95) and her husband Steve have just added new online and mobile qualitative research services to the toolkit of Panoptika, the market research company they founded in Toronto in 2001. “We’re really excited,” says Megann, “about the possibilities this opens up to reach customers where they live and shop.”

Mark Rechihi (BCom) shared in the reflected glory when his CEO brother Alex (Artsci’96) was named one of Canada’s “Top 40 Under 40” for 2008 (see the Globe’s Report on Business, May 6). Mark and Alex opened their first Extreme Pita location in Waterloo 11 years ago and now have 200 franchises across Canada and 30 in the States. In 2006, they created Extreme Brandz and opened a Mexican grill restaurant called Mucho Burrito.

Jason Balgopal (BCom) has taken a year-long secondment from his work as an Assistant Crown Attorney at the Scarborough Crown Attorney’s Office (where he has worked for the past ten years, appearing at all levels of the Ontario court system) to head up the comprehensive review of the Class Proceedings Act at the Law Commission of Ontario.
