Taxonomy Roadmap webinar series (Webinar 2)

This expert panel will address questions about the recently released Taxonomy Roadmap Report from the Sustainable Finance Action Council (SFAC), discuss the importance for Canadian competitiveness and climate targets of properly defining green and transition categories for sustainable investing, and look at next steps for establishing a robust taxonomy for Canada.

As Chief Executive Officer, Patricia leads the RIA team in pursuit of its mission to grow responsible investment (RI) in Canada by advancing the policy and regulatory environment, deepening industry education, and supporting market development. Patricia was previously with the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) where she served as Vice President, Education and before that held senior roles at the Canadian Institute, the Hay Group and the Institute for International Research. Patricia is a member of the Standards Council of Canada’s (SCC) Canadian Standardization Advisory Committee on ESG and an Advisory Committee Member of System-3 Inc.

Barb Zvan

President and CEO at University Pension Plan Ontario and Chair, Sustainable Finance Action Council Taxonomy Technical Expert Group

Barb is the Inaugural President and CEO of the University Pension Plan Ontario (UPP) and former Chief Risk and Strategy Officer for the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. She serves on the boards of various global institutions and associations focused on pension management, risk and responsible investing, including the Global Risk Institute, Responsible Investment Association and the advisory board of the Institute for Sustainable Finance at Smith School of Business. She was appointed to the Government of Canada’s Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance, is a member of the Advisory Committee for the new ‘Investing to Address Climate Change’ Charter and played a significant role in creating the G7 Investor Leadership Network. 

 

Jonathan Arnold

Research Lead, Clean Growth, The Canadian Climate Institute

Jonathan has a diverse background in environmental policy with an expertise in energy, drinking water and wastewater, solid waste, and traffic congestion. Jonathan’s previous roles include Senior Research Associate with Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission and Economist with Environment Canada.

 

Dr. Janis Sarra

Professor of Law, Peter A. Allard School of Law

Dr. Sarra is Professor of Law at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Peter A. Allard School of Law and Principal Co-investigator of the Canada Climate Law Initiative. She held the position of UBC Presidential Distinguished Professor for two terms, 2014 to 2019, and continues to hold the title of Distinguished University Scholar. She was previously Director of the Wall Institute for Advanced Studies, UBC and served as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law. She was founding Director of the National Centre for Business Law, and a Senator of the University.
