From a term on the Queen's Senate to a semester at the Bader College, Adrian Mucalov's eagerness to take on new and challenging experiences during his time in the Commerce program was a strong indication of how his career would ultimately unfold.
Adrian's interest in international business was sparked when he took a voluntary assignment in Korea. “I discovered that Zambia’s GDP had equalled Korea’s in 1960. The contrast between how Korea had grown and prospered while Zambia had fallen behind was a powerful lesson. I found that once I started thinking about how economic growth can transform societies, it was difficult to think of anything else.” A combined MBA/Master of Public Administration gave him the knowledge and skills he was missing, and found work at Actis, a London-based private equity fund that strives to help the private sector make positive contributions to society.
When Smith Magazine caught up with Adrian in 2011, he was working on a project to increase electricity capacity in Uganda.
