Dr. W. A. Mackintosh becomes Director of the School 1925

Milestone 1925

Dr. W.A. Mackintosh succeeds Dr. Clark as the Director of the School of Commerce and Administration. In pursuit of a higher quality of business education, Mackintosh made changes in the standards required to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree. It was during this year that the honours standard and the year system were adopted. This meant that there was a general upgrading of the requirements for Commerce students to progress from one year to the next. The adoption of the honours standards was the most significant decision in the evolution of the School of Business and has contributed greatly to the prestige the School enjoys today.
