Jeffrey Veffer, MBA, joined Intelligent Buildings, a smart building consulting firm in August 2018 as engagement director. Jeffrey heads up the firm’s consulting team for client engagements, which helps clients (such as real estate owners and operators) understand how building technology can make their assets more efficient and provide a better tenant experience.

Jeffrey Veffer (MBA) is leaving the corporate chapter of his life behind to pursue a career in architecture. After graduating from the University of Waterloo’s architecture program nearly 20 years ago, he was offered a job at the Discovery Channel, which led to his completing his Queen’s MBA. After working in marketing roles in corporate Canada, including at Bell Canada and Air Miles, he has opened Incite Design, an architecture practice in Toronto. He and his partner have a wide range of experience, from large commercial architecture projects to residential additions. “I’m looking forward to helping clients solve their problems, such as getting that new addition built, redesigning a corporate office, or even just chatting about the best way to plan their cottage,” says Jeffrey. Akis Vitsentzatos, BCom, has accepted a position as a legal officer with the Department of National Defence’s Office of the Judge Advocate General. While practising law for the past nine years, Akis was a reservist with the 1st Hussars, an armoured reconnaissance regiment based in London, Ont. At his new posting in Ottawa, Akis will be a Regular Force member of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Michael G. Wang, MBA, has joined the board of directors of GCC Global Capital Corporation. The Vancouver-based company works primarily in real estate, natural resources and high tech. Michael is a director at Royal Bank of Canada’s private banking and wealth management department. He’s spent the last 20 years in the financial services and technology sectors. Michael also serves on the board of directors of the Canadian Club of Toronto and lives in the Toronto area with his wife, and fellow Queen’s grad, Grace Hong Shi, Comp’03, Artsci'04, and their two sons.

He joined Stantive after 32 years in the financial services sector, most recently as CEO of Empire Life. In his new role, Les will help set the strategic direction of Stantive and drive its continued global growth in the content management industry.
